James Sullivan

Research Fellow in Cyber Threats and Cyber Security, Royal United Services Institute

James Sullivan is a Research Fellow at the leading UK defence and security think tank the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI). He leads RUSI’s cyber security research programme. Current focus includes the future shape of the UK’s national cyber strategy and cyber security challenges relating to the globalisation of technology.

Prior to joining RUSI, James worked at the National Crime Agency as an Intelligence Analyst specialising in cybercrime threats. He worked closely with UK government, private sector and international partners to identify and rationalise global cyber threats and trends, to provide security guidance to citizens and organisations, and authored strategic reports relating to specific malware strains, banking trojans, ransomware, and denial-of-service attacks. James has also worked for Deloitte’s Cyber Risk team where he provided analysis on the cyber threat landscape and advised clients on defensive measures and risk management strategies.
