Detective Inspector Alistair Burns has been a Police Officer for 27 years. For the last 20 years he has served as a Detective at DC, DS and DI ranks. He has been involved in investigating crimes over a wide range of genres and has spent the last 7 specifically investigating Cyber offences and providing digital forensic support to the PSNI. Detective Inspector Burns has worked with many partners both nationally and internationally on cyber investigations and manged online investigations including those focused on insider threats, firearms procurement and pure cyber criminality. He is involved with HMIC as a peer inspector during the inspection of Force cyber capability

Outside of PSNI he is married with one daughter, living just outside Belfast with an eclectic set of interests and pastimes
